Day 8

Ok....I broke my fast last Monday as well and have stayed that way. I have a reason three fold. But I just think that because I wasn't getting anything spiritually is why I ended it. I did feel weird - almost that it was wrong to do so. Its odd that I felt that way.

I think I should just stop with the looking for spiritual guidance, until I can give it more of myself. That's one of the things that I wasn't able to do with Ramadan. When I first started I was thinking, oh I can do this, because technically all I was fasting for was about four to six hours a day, maybe more.

Day 7

Well I only have one comment. I had to break my fasting today, I needed to take some medicine so that I could function, stupid allergies. Anyway, I broke my fasting at 4:00pm.

That's it....so I will have to make up at day according to my friend.

Day 6

I know, I know its been a long time since my last post. I got distracted by school work....stupid school work. Anyway, so what's been going on with everyone (or just with the one person that probably reads this)?

Well what's been going on with me, besides school. I have still been observing Ramadan and not faultering. Some days I feel like I am just dragging along, but once I eat I feel better, for about 10 minutes and then I want to go sleep.

So events in the news or other wise knows as current events. Astros made it to the world series, good for them. I have a friend named Strobel - he is a - lets call him a dedicated fan, who said if they go to the world series, he would get a tattoo. So, what will it be Strobel. I am a big fan of the I heart mom tats.

Speaking of tats - I am thinking about getting one. I was something that means strength and peace. My friend Malak tells me that I can get an Arabic calligraphy symbol that means just that. So I just might, not sure where I would get it. Still thinking...

So, how many storms are going to be created in the ocean to the left (or right if your looking at a map). Personally I think it would be neat to see hurricane alpha...don't get me wrong I wouldn't want anyone to get hurt or killed and no major destruction. But this would be the first time in history that we would have run out of storm names. Seeing how they are preset each year.

Well anyway....back to work. Later peps

Day 5

This is day five of posts and its been a week since I created the blog.

Its progressing slowly. I am not so quick to post as I was in the beginning.

its also been a week since I started Ramadan. I am not feeling anything, mainly because I am not fasting for the entire day due to my schedule. I feel like I am not getting the full experience, but I will keep up with it.

As far as the people making posts, thank you to the two actual humans and not the spam that I have had to delete.

Just to make it clear to people, you no longer have to be registered with blogger.com to post on my blog. You will just show up as friend and then sign your name after your post, so I know who it was.

So the topic of discussion of today is what I have been contemplating. I have come up with a theory of the universe. That in order for life here on earth at lest to be born - then life must be taken. And since we are over populated and people are living longer now. I think that's what these natural disasters are occurring and taking large quantities of lives. To make up for it. I am not in any way trying to down play the seriousness of the tragic amounts of life that has been lost of the last few years. And my theory has to do with natural occurrences no man made. So, this is not to be equated with 9/11 in any way - that was man made.

This is just a theory of mine. Feel free to comment.

Well I think I am pretty much done for now.

Day 4

Ok I haven't posted anything in two days. So, what do I talk about. Well this weekend wasn't so bad. It was TEXAS/OU weekend and I work as a bouncer, so we had some interesting things happen. Fights, lots of drunk people and minors trying to scam their way into a 21 and up bar. But more importantly hot women, lots of hot women.

Well I am still fasting and observing Ramadan. I believe this is my (hold checking previous posts) fifth day. I realized that the first four days of my observance - I was fasting for about four to five hours. So I got up earlier today at around 1230pm - 1pmish, which I usually get up at 3 or 4. I just now have hunger pains. Not bad, I can handle it.

I had a lengthy discussion with a friend of mine on Friday and she asked me a question, how do you know you're in love?....My reply was the simple one that everyone else uses. You just know. But to be honest I have no idea. So my question to anyone who is reading this, can you answer the question. How do you know your in love? (She reads this, so feel free to post, it may help her)

Also I have changed my settings to were everyone can post not just members, so let me know if it works. But you will have to do a word verification, this is to cut down on spam.

Well now onto the movie trivia: (Flight Club) In Tyler Durden's house there is a Movieline magazine cover featuring who?

later for now

Day 3

Ok, as you may see its after midnight. I am up at the game lab contemplating on working on my graduation project or not. We just played flag football (co-ed) and lost 40 something to nothing. We did a lot better this game (the first round of playoffs) than we did against the same team during regular season (first game 90-0 their favor).

It was brutal, they were bulldozing our females and a few males might add ya (mainly their females were doing some of the grunt work, could be roid rage, not saying they are on roids, but they did have a hot female blonde that had legs that were bigger than mine and I am a big guy).

And if your keeping up with my previous posts, I am not breaking any Ramadan rules - its not daylight.

So, anyway...I got out there and played a few downs and the girls didn't run me over...I am like a soft brick wall if that makes sense. I did want the blonde to run into me, but I had to block the faster one....

Lets see, well I think I am done for now.

Day 2 (cont.)

Well I thought I would add some more today. Discuss something that I am trying right now. My friend Malak is a Muslim female and she is observing Ramadan, so I thought I would try it to....you know the ongoing search for spiritual truth. I am also doing this to get a better understanding of the religion and culture (Let me clarify, I have not converted to Islam)

So today was my first official day - even though yesterday was the first official Ramadan day. So, the rule is basically to abstain from all things pleasurable and no food or drink from sun up to sun down. I was successful today. I ate breakfast at 430am before I went to bed and then woke up at 12pm. And then avoided my daily routine of eating and drinking lots of water...until 710pm which is what time my friend Malak told me was officially sun down in Dallas.

Then I went to subway and got me a 2 footlongs for 7.99...and I have managed to eat 1 and 1/3 sandwiches. I will save the rest for later. I really want to see how far I can go and how much will power I have. Plus any spiritual enlightenment would be great. I read some where that Jesus once said that we should all try fasting to achieve a spiritual awakening...not sure if that was true...I remember reading it off a website.

well anyway...I am going to make it 1.5 sandwiches here in a minute.

Day 2

Yes Elizabeth your right, I had some spelling errors. Thanks for correcting me. I was in class and bored, but simple spelling errors are no excuse.

For all of you who are reading this, Elizabeth is my younger sister and her and her husband are expecting their first baby in May. The whole family is excited.

Well right now I am sitting at my roommate's computer, waiting for the postman to come. He is two hours late, unless he isn’t coming today.

Well anyway, to give a little more about myself. I love movies; so much so, that one of my dreams is to make movies. I have posted a link to movies trailers provided by Apple’s website to the right. I also enjoy quirky informative websites like Double Viking (which is provide to the right as well).

Occasionally I will post my comments on movies, news and other issues on here. Like I saw on Double Viking (or DV for short) there is a new cell phone coming out that is finger print recognition. Europe, Asia and the Middle East will get to see it before the rest of the world.(or basically Americans have to wait).

Movie Trivia: In The Big Lebowski. The check that the Dude wrote at the Ralph’s store in the beginning, what was the date on the check?

Later for now!

(ANSWER: Sept 11 - I can't remember the year I wan tto say it was 1991 - the movie was made in 1997-98)

Day 1

First off let me start by saying, this is my frist Blog. And I am not a kid...I just sometimes draw from the fat kid inside me (mainly for my humor). And the doctors say if I have him removed, I may die (where is that from?)

Right now I am sitting in my class (not listening)...I am bored and not challenged. We are talking abotu suburbia...or something like that.

Anyway...I am 28 years old and a graduate student. My name is Russell. I will be posting on here as much as possible and all at different times, because my life isn't scheduled.

I will post more later. This is just a test. Lets see where it goes.
